The 13.1-mile course for the Sioux Falls Half Marathon is USATF-certified. It is flat, fast and designed to showcase many of Sioux Falls natural and man-made landmarks.
Both courses will have clearly marked miles. Volunteers will give split times at miles 1 and 2 in both races, and at the 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles) and 10-mile points of the half-marathon.
There will be water and aid stations at mile 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 along the half-marathon course. The half marathon course will remain open for 3:00 hours. If you will be out on the course around 2:45-3:15 hour mark be sure to carry appropriate hydration and supplements.
Buses will only be available at the start of the race to bring runners from the Sanford Wellness Center to the start line at Howard Wood Field. Buses will NOT be available after the race.
The Miracle 5K Run/Walk will start at Sertoma Park. The course will first lead runners southwest towards S. Oxbow Avenue. At S. Oxbow, participants will head north until they reach W. 49th Street. Runners will follow the trail on 49th to the east until they reach Western Avenue. At Western, runners will turn to the south and head towards 57th Street. At the corner of Western & 57th Streets, runners will take another right and head to the west. Finally, runners will meet up once again with S. Oxbow Ave. and follow the trail back to the finish, also located at Sertoma Park.
The Half-Marathon begins at Howard Wood Field. Runners pass Covell Lake and St. Joseph's Cathedral, through Downtown Sioux Falls and into the Warehouse Historic District. At approximately the 4-mile mark, the runners enter the beautifully sites, as well as the city's namesake, the Big Sioux River. At Falls Park, runners connect with the city's wide, smooth, paved bike trail that is part of the Greenway. Tracing the shaded banks of the Big Sioux River, the trail bends around the city and takes the runners to the finish at Sertoma Park.
